Welcome! My name is Jennifer and along with my tortoiseshell cat, Hazel, we are The Raw Fed Feline. I am the writer and she is the teacher and inspiration.
As you can probably guess, I am passionate about feline nutrition. I started learning about feline nutrition in order to best support Hazel’s health and well being. Feeding her a raw diet has been so rewarding, it inspired me to create The Raw Fed Feline. Most raw feeding information out there is very dog centric, so I wanted a place to share feline focused raw feeding information for my fellow cat lovers.
I’ve been a raw feeder for the past 9 years. Additionally, I sought out formal education about feline nutrition for my own personal growth, and so that you could have a sense of trust in what I share here. To that end, I have earned two certificates in feline nutrition. My first certificate in Feline Nutrition was from the Academy of Natural Health Sciences Training Center (2022). My second certificate in Canine and Feline Nutrition was from Southern Illinois University (2023).
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people make raw feeding seem like rocket science. There are several really easy ways to feed raw; raw feeding can be simple and accessible. I don’t think elitist attitudes and overcomplicating nutrition is helpful to anyone, least of all our cats. One of the things I love about raw feeding is that there are multiple ways to provide an appropriate raw diet. Stick around and see which ways might work for you, your cat, and your situation.
